Andrew E. Curto concentrates his practice in complicated commercial and employment litigation, as well as in all facets of business conflict and problem solving. Prior to joining the Firm in 1999, Mr. Curto was a partner in a Melville, New York law firm where he gained substantial trial experience as a young lawyer. He routinely litigates claims in both federal and state courts in a wide variety of commercial claims such as corporate dissolution and derivative actions, for large multimillion dollar corporations and small closely held corporations as well as limited liability companies.  He is also experienced in partner and joint venture disputes. Among other areas, he has also prosecuted and defended real estate disputes, employment and discrimination claims, estate litigations, regulatory claims, and compliance issues arising out of municipal zoning and code enforcement proceedings.

Mr. Curto also founded the Firm’s Renewable Energy practice group.  This practice group is dedicated to assisting clients navigate the growing, overlapping and often confusing array of government and private sector initiatives and incentives aimed at increasing the use of renewable energy and sustainable consumption.  Supported by the Firm’s real estate, zoning and land use, corporate and litigation practices, the group quarterbacks the myriad of issues that arise including the management of corporate agreements, procurement contracts, power purchase agreements and real property concerns, oversees indemnification and insurance matters, and reviews any land use or municipal compliance issues for sites implementing such technologies.

Mr. Curto has been often quoted in various news media including the Wall Street Journal, Newsday, and the Long Island Business News for his representation of the Firm’s clients, including more than 10,000 business owners in a suit against the State of New York challenging the constitutionality of new license fee legislation.

Finally, Mr. Curto has substantial experience in appellate practice, and has gained valuable experience from prior employment with the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office, and Matthew Bender Co., a well-known legal publisher.
