Nathan R. Jones concentrates his practice on complex commercial litigation, municipal, tax and land use litigation and investigations. At the Firm Mr. Jones has helped deliver significant victories for clients, including: several favorable judgments following civil trials—including awards of significant attorney’s fees; an appellate victory granting tax exemption for a large Long Island not-for-profit organization; and a favorable settlement after a successful summary judgment motion in a twenty-year-long estate dispute.
Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Jones was a litigation associate at Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP, where he served multiple large national and international clients in matters including securities law, contract interpretation, corporate governance, bankruptcy litigation, antitrust investigations, and white-collar crime. Mr. Jones also worked as a special assistant district attorney in the Kings County District Attorney’s Office, where he managed a caseload of over a hundred misdemeanor cases at a time, successfully achieved numerous plea bargains and convictions, and participated in several jury trials. Prior to the District Attorney’s office Mr. Jones worked as a law clerk to the Office of the General Counsel of Washington University in St. Louis.
He has appeared frequently in the state trial and appellate courts and the federal courts of New York and worked on matters before other courts, including the Delaware Chancery court and the Eastern District of Louisiana. He has been named a New York SuperLawyers Rising Star since 2014.
