Nassau County Real Estate Tax Grievance Deadline – March 1st

At Forchelli Deegan Terrana LLP (“FDT”), we were proud to close out 2022 by adding one of the preeminent tax certiorari law firms in New York State, Koeppel Martone & Leistman, L.L.C (“KML”), to the firm.  The addition of the attorneys and staff of KML has already begun to yield tremendous benefits for both our clients and our attorneys.

As 2023 begins, the newly-expanded Tax Certiorari practice group at FDT would like to provide all of our clients with a brief reminder that the deadline to file real estate tax grievances in Nassau County is March 1st.  The 2024/25 Tentative Assessment Roll was recently published by the Nassau County Department of Assessment.  The publishing of the tentative assessment roll represents the beginning of the grievance filing period for the 2024/25 tax year, which will close on March 1st. If a property owner does not file a grievance within the filing period, they will forfeit their right to any potential tax refund and/or savings for this tax year.

If you have any questions about your existing real estate tax challenge(s), or wish to inquire about commencing a real estate tax challenge on a new property, please reach out to any of our attorneys in our Tax Certiorari Practice Group.

We look forward to sharing the latest industry news with you in our next issue.
