Daniel P. Deegan heads up the firm’s Industrial Development Agency (IDA), Municipal Incentives and Government Relations practices, with particular emphasis on facilitating and implementing responsible real estate development projects. He specializes in Real Estate Development Law, Zoning Law, Municipal Incentives/IDA Law, and Government Relations/Municipal Law. Mr. Deegan is on the Board of the New York League of Conservation Voters (NYLCV) and is Vice Chairman of the Long Island Chapter for Nassau County. He has served as President of the Glen Cove Rotary. He is also a member of the Commercial Industrial Brokers Society of Long Island (CIBS) and was honored as the 2010 Associate Member of the Year. He is a frequent lecturer to trade groups and others on the law and practice relating to Economic Development Incentives and Industrial Development Agencies and was published in the New York Real Estate Journal.
Head of the firm’s tax certiorari department, John V. Terrana has obtained millions of dollars in real estate tax refunds and savings for clients, including national and regional owners and tenants of all types of commercial and residential property. Terrana served as chair of the Tax Certiorari Committee of the Nassau County Bar Association. He is a frequent writer and speaker on tax certiorari issues and has been listed numerous times in “Who’s Who in Tax Certiorari Law” in Long Island Business News.
Kathleen Deegan Dickson concentrates her practice in the areas of real estate development matters, and, in particular, land use and zoning law. Kathleen has an extensive track record of success with and before municipal boards and agencies on significant projects throughout Long Island. She has a reputation for effectiveness and integrity in the pre-hearing meetings and outreach to municipal planning staffs and civic groups that are now a must in Long Island’s current development climate. She is former counsel to the City of Glen Cove Planning and Zoning Boards, and currently represents many developers, property owners, corporations and private individuals in all types of matters involving real property transactions, zoning and land use. She is a member of the American and the New York State Bar Associations, as well as the Nassau County Women’s Bar Association, LIBI, HIA, and WEDLI (Women Economic Developers of Long Island. Ms. Deegan Dickson has published articles on land subdivision in the New York Real Estate Journal. She was named one of Long Island’s 50 Most Influential Women by the Long Island Business News (2013).
Jeffrey G. Stark has served as a Justice of the New York Supreme Court, sitting in Nassau County, and was nominated by President Clinton to be a Judge of the United States Court of International Trade. Mr. Stark membership’s include the Nassau County Bar Association where he was the Chairman of the Courts Committee, Chairman of the I.A.S. Committee, a Director, and a Chair of the Commercial Court Committee, member of the Second Circuit Task Force on Gender, Racial and Ethnic Fairness in the Courts, the New York State Commercial Courts Task Force, and the Task Force on Permanency Planning for Foster Children. In addition, Mr. Stark has been a frequent lecturer. He is rated “AV Preeminent” by the Martindale-Hubbell, the highest level in professional excellence, and was recognized by L.I. Pulse Magazine as one of the region’s “Top Legal Eagles”. Mr. Stark has handled a number of pro bono cases, particularly those involving foster children. For his work in this area, he was awarded the Pro Bono Award by the Nassau County Bar Association.
Russell G. Tisman specializes in complex corporate, commercial, defense, employment, labor and Surrogate’s Court litigation. He has tried cases and argued appeals in Federal and State courts and administrative agencies throughout the United States, and in arbitration and other alternate dispute resolution fora. Mr. Tisman also actively counsels management and human resource professionals on employment and labor matters. He represents public companies, privately held businesses, insurers, financial institutions and individuals in all types of business related disputes. Mr. Tisman is a member of the American Bar Association, the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and the Nassau County Bar Association, where he is active on the employment and labor committee. He has served as President of the Lawyers Club of Huntington and currently is a board member of the Theodore Roosevelt American Inn of Court. He has published articles in various journals including the Journal of the American Corporate Counsel Association, and the National Law Journal, and treatise sections on litigation and employment topics, including chapter updates for BNA’s Employment Discrimination Law treatise. He is AV-Rated by Martindale Hubbell and has been selected by Long Island Business News as one of Long Island’s leading employment and labor lawyers in its “Who’s Who in Law” edition, among other honors he has received.
Gregory S. Lisi is Head of the Firm’s Employment and Labor Department concentrating in the areas of labor and employment law, sexual harassment and discrimination law, overtime and wage law, immigration and naturalization law, corporate law, commercial transaction law and real estate law. He has represented Plaintiffs, Defendants, publicly traded and private companies, the United States Government and New York State government entities. Mr. Lisi is currently on the Board of Directors of the Nassau County Bar Association and is the past Chair of the Nassau County Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Law Committee. He is a former Regional Counsel of the United States Customs Service where he defended the United States Government before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission as well as in labor/union matters. He is currently a member of the New York State Bar, Washington, D.C. Bar, New York State Bar Association, National Employment Lawyers Association, New York State Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Law Committee, Nassau County Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Law Committee and Immigration Committee, and the Anti-Defamation League’s Civil Rights Committee.
Brian R. Sahn is a partner in the Firm’s Real Estate Practice Group where he broadly concentrates his practice in all facets of commercial real estate transactions, including representing clients in purchase and sale agreements; acquisition financing transactions; industrial/economic development projects; and commercial lease agreements in the office, retail and industrial markets. Brian has extensive experience in real estate brokerage matters, including representing clients in connection with real estate portfolio management service agreements, corporate global solutions agreements, lease administration agreements and disputes over commissions and entitlements.
Mr. Sahn represents several large public and private companies concerning their real estate portfolios, involving the management, disposition and acquisition of corporate real estate holdings, frequently involving complex environmental, title and facilities problems. In addition, he represents many clients in connection with ground-up real estate development projects, and institutional lenders in commercial real estate and multi-family loan transactions. Mr. Sahn also has represented defense contractors in facility closures and divestitures, and in negotiations with local redevelopment agencies and municipal representatives. Mr. Sahn is also on the Board of Directors of the USGBC-LI Chapter.
Peter R. Mineo served as a North Hempstead Deputy Town Attorney, where he was counsel to the Board of Zoning and Appeals and Building Department on zoning matters and litigation. Since joining the firm in 1978, he has continued to concentrate in zoning, land use, municipal law and litigation. Mr. Mineo represents a wide variety of private clients, including many national corporate chains and municipalities. He is the Village Attorney for three villages and has been retained as special counsel by a number of other municipalities, particularly on zoning and other land use issues and litigation. Mr. Mineo is a member of the New York State and Nassau County Bar Associations and has written articles about and spoken at numerous professional seminars on zoning topics.
Joseph V. Cuomo concentrates his practice on the representation of private and public companies and emerging businesses with respect to business law and transactional matters. He serves as “outside” general counsel to numerous middle market private companies. His practice also encompasses the representation of institutional and individual investors (including venture capital funds) and private equity funds with respect to their portfolio company transactions. Steven G. Gaebler is a partner in the Banking and Finance Department and the Real Estate Department. He concentrates his practice in commercial lending and commercial real estate transactions. Mr. Gaebler represents several major financial institutions in complex mortgage and asset based lending transactions, including transactions involving construction lending, letters of credit, IDA and other bond financing, leasehold mortgage financing, factor financing, condominium and cooperative financing, revolving lines of credit, financing of large industrial, retail, office and multi-family facilities, participation agreements between landlords, as well as representation of lenders in workout and restructuring agreements. Mr. Gaebler is a member of the New York State and Nassau County Bar Associations.
Joseph P. Asselta is Co-Head of the Firm’s Construction Law Department since the merger of his former partnership Agovino & Asselta, LLP into the Firm. Mr. Asselta represents clients in all segments of the construction industry including owners, developers, financial institutions, design professionals, general contractors, construction managers, government contractors, trade contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, equipment rental companies, insurers and sureties (on both public and private projects). A significant portion of his practice also includes the review, drafting and negotiation of construction contracts and related project documents. A member of the American Bar Association’s Construction Law Forum and Fidelity and Surety Law Committee, as well as the New York State Bar Association’s Construction and Surety Law Division, Mr. Asselta is active in a number of construction and surety industry associations. He was the Chair of the Bar Association of Nassau County, Construction Law Committee from 2001-2003.
Mary E. Mongioi concentrates her practice in the tax, trusts and estates and corporate departments, where she handles the litigation of estate matters as well as civil litigation, appellate practice, real estate and corporate matters. She is a member of the Nassau County Bar Association, where she is Vice Chair of the Real Property Committee and also a member of the Community Relations Committee. She has authored numerous articles for the New York Law Journalon varying estate litigation. In addition, she was honored by Long Island Business News with its ‘Leadership in Law’ Award.
Frank W. Brennan concentrates his practice in the areas of construction law, commercial litigation and labor and employment law. Mr. Brennan represents clients in all segments of the construction industry, including contractors, construction managers, owners, developers, suppliers and equipment rental companies (on both public and private projects) relating to claims of non-payment, extra work, delay, changed conditions, defective work, default, termination, mechanic’s liens and performance and payment bonds. Mr. Brennan also provides representation in connection with negotiation, drafting and implementation of collective bargaining agreements (CBA) and project labor agreements (PLA). Mr. Brennan is a member of the Nassau County Bar Association and is currently a member of the Construction Law and Labor & Employment Law Committees.
Alexander Leong is Of Counsel in the Firm’s Employment & Labor Practice group.
