Jonathan P. Weiss is an Associate at Forchelli Deegan Terrana, LLP, where he is a member of the firm’s Trusts & Estates practice group with an emphasis on estate litigation, administration, and planning.

He represents clients in Surrogate’s Court in fiduciary removal, ejectment, turnover proceedings, pre-objection discovery and depositions, will contests, contested administration matters, and other trusts and estates disputes.  Since joining Forchelli in 2023, Mr. Weiss has secured multiple favorable court decisions, including on motions to dismiss and for summary judgment, achieved strong outcomes in extensive mediations and settlements, and argued before Surrogates in six different counties. On the administration side, Mr. Weiss guides grieving families through the complicated administration process through all phases. This includes preparing and filing petitions for probate, administration, and fiduciary appointments, managing the collection and distribution of assets, preparing informal and judicial accountings, and coordinating beneficiary receipts and fiduciary releases. Aside from litigation and administration, Mr. Weiss works with clients to develop strategies which adhere to that client’s estate planning objectives, which range from simple to sophisticated plans.  He prepares Wills, Trusts, and other ancillary estate planning documents such as Powers of Attorney and Health Care Proxies.

Active in the Long Island trusts and estates community, Mr. Weiss has hosted continuing legal education programs across the Nassau and Suffolk bar associations, provided pro bono services in trusts and estates matters, and was recognized as an Emerging Leader Under 30. Mr. Weiss is an active member of the Long Island Hispanic Bar Association, a member of the Nassau County Bar Association: Trusts and Estates Law Section; and Co-Vice Chair of the CLE Committee of the New York State Bar Association, Trusts & Estates Committee.

Mr. Weiss graduated from St. John’s University School of Law where he was an Editor of the Journal of Civil Rights and Economic Development, a member of the Trusts & Estates Law Society, and a member of the Latin American Law Student Association.  He earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the Catholic University of America, in Washington, D.C.

Prior to joining the firm as an associate, Mr. Weiss was an intern for Honorable Margaret C. Reilly, Surrogate of Nassau County, a mergers and acquisitions paralegal at a global law firm, and a summer diversity fellow here, at Forchelli Deegan Terrana, LLP.
