Ms. Alpern was an attorney at Koeppel Martone & Leistman, L.L.C. since 1986 concentrating her practice in the field of real property tax assessment litigation. She began her career at the firm in 1984 as a clerk while attending law school.

Ms. Alpern serves on the Ambassadors Council of the Long Island Crisis Center in Bellmore, and was previously a member of the organization’s Board of Directors and a volunteer. Long Island Crisis Center honored Ms. Alpern in 2016 in the ‘Life-Savings Circle of Friends’ and in 2014 with the Linda Nadle Memorial Award for Community Service. Ms. Alpern volunteered from 2003 to 2013 at Pride For Youth where she was recognized in 2012 as Volunteer of the Year. From 2014 through 2016 Ms. Alpern volunteered at Cove Animal Rescue in Glen Cove. In 2019, Ms. Alpern was honored as an Achiever by the Long Island Center for Business and Professional Women. Currently Ms. Alpern is a volunteer with Yorkie911 Rescue. Over the years she has participated in races for assorted charities, and is the recipient of municipal citations for her charitable endeavors.
