John V. Terrana is co-managing partner of Uniondale-based full-service law firm Forchelli Deegan Terrana. Terrana co-chairs the firm’s tax certiorari practice group. He has obtained millions of dollars in real estate tax refunds and future savings for clients, including national, regional and local owners, and tenants of commercial and residential properties.

Terrana’s strategic vision continues to be focused on growth. With the addition of the attorneys and staff of Koeppel Martone & Leistman in 2022, FDT bolstered its tax certiorari practice group and launched its condemnation practice group. The joining of these real estate property tax powerhouses allows the firm to better meet the needs of valued clients. In December 2023, FDT leased additional office space to accommodate future growth.

Terrana serves as the firm’s chief marketing officer, leading a committee of eight that includes the in-house marketing professionals, administrator and partners from various practice groups.

Terrana co-chairs the firm’s diversity committee; FDT’s Diversity Fellowship Program affords law school students from typically underrepresented populations in the legal profession the opportunity to enhance their education.

A community advocate, Terrana spearheads an annual firmwide toy drive with the Nassau County Assessment Review Commission in support of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program.

An industry veteran, Terrana is actively involved in the Nassau and Suffolk County bar associations, Institute for Professionals in Taxation, International Council of Shopping Centers, Commercial Industrial Brokers Society of Long Island and the Mattone Family Institute for Real Estate Law at St. John’s University School of Law, among others.
