Massapequa’s Robert Renda to put on the gloves for fight for charity

Robert “The Tax Reducer” Renda, a resident of Massapequa and an Associate in the Tax Certiorari Department at Forchelli, Curto, Deegan, Schwartz, Mineo & Terrana, LLP, has been selected to be one of the more than 20 boxers participating in the 10th Long Island Fight for Charity, which will be held on November 25th at the Hilton Long Island in Melville. This action-packed and highly anticipated event is one of the Island’s leading charity fund raising and networking events. More than 1,200 people are expected to attend, and over $200,000 is projected to be raised to support members of the community through The Long Island Community Chest.

“I wanted to be a boxer in this year’s Fight for Charity because training and stepping in the ring to help raise funds to assist families on Long Island who are having a tough time making ends meat is a worthwhile undertaking. The programs that the Long Island Community Chest oversees are important for all of us to support. I am committed to the effort and I recognize the training will be tough but it will be worth it,” said Renda.

The Forchelli law firm, a Fight for Charity “Judges Sponsor” is a major supporter of the 2013 charity event. The firm has been one of Long Island’s most acclaimed and distinguished full service law firms for over 35 years. Practice areas include real estate, land use and zoning, tax, trusts and estates, tax certiorari, corporate and commercial litigation, banking law, IDA, bankruptcy, and employment and labor law. Robert Renda focuses on tax certiorari matters at the firm, the area of the law concerned with reducing real estate taxes for commercial and residential property owners. Renda was born and raised in Massapequa, where he resides with his wife Carolyn.

“When we started the Fight for Charity, we anticipated it would become an event that people would look forward to every year. This event has been successful over the years because of generosity of our sponsors such as the Forchelli law firm, the dedicated volunteer boxers and the hard work of all the other volunteers. Today more than ever before, we need to raise money and support members of our community, and the Long Island Community Chest is a charity that helps us achieve this goal,” said Jamie Austin, Long Island’s Fight for Charity Co-Founder.

Tickets for the event are available on-line. Ringside seats are $195, premium seats are $125, and both include admission to a pre-event special networking and cocktail reception. The event starts at 5:30 p.m. with a V.I.P. reception. The doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the boxing will begin at 6:30 p.m. More than 20 local restaurants will provide delicious food and beverages for the event.

Fight for Charity’s mission is to raise money directly to help neighbors and local charities including the Long Island Community Chest, the Genesis School and the National Foundation for Human Potential.
