Robert Agostisi is a partner, concentrating his practice in the areas of labor and employment, IDA, and land use and zoning.
For nearly twenty-five years, Rob has worked in dynamic and demanding environments to produce strategic solutions to complex legal problems. His experience extends to the private, public, and non-profit sectors, and includes over fifteen years served in general counsel roles. Rob’s litigation experience ranges from labor and employment to 42 U.S.C. § 1983 (federal civil rights), complex commercial, corporate, zoning/land use, environmental, commercial landlord/tenant, insurance, Article 78 proceedings, and includes public sector disputes arising under the New York General Municipal Law, Civil Service Law, Labor Law, and the Taylor Law, among others. He has also handled a variety of commercial transactions.
A seasoned litigator, Rob has successfully tried jury and bench trials in state and federal courts and has appeared in numerous arbitrations/administrative hearings. He has argued appeals at the Appellate Division, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, and the New York State Court of Appeals. Rob is also versed in the field of public relations, particularly crisis-communications, to help organizations balance competing objectives.
Rob previously served as Corporation Counsel for the City of Long Beach, where he managed an office of attorneys and staff. Toward the end of his tenure, he also served as the Acting City Manager, where he supervised approximately 350 full-time and over 500 part-time employees, and prepared/administered $100+ million operating/capital budgets. Throughout his career, including in-house roles, Rob maintained an independent caseload that he managed from inception through trial and appeal.
Rob is past President of the New York City Chapter of the Labor & Employment Relations Association (LERA) and past Vice President of the Labor & Employment Committee of the Nassau County Bar Association. He is also an active volunteer with the American Cancer Society.
