Uniondale, NY – April 6, 2016, The Nassau County Bar Association (NCBA), The Safe Center LI (TSCLI) and Nassau/Suffolk Law Services (NSLS) honored 377 lawyers for their distinguished volunteer service provided through their organizations as well as the top law firms most dedicated to pro bono, at the Second Annual Access to Justice Pro Bono Recognition Reception.

NCBA, TSCLI and NSLS provide pro bono legal services, consultations, guidance and referrals to address crucial legal needs of thousands of lower income Nassau residents in crisis. Issues include mortgage foreclosure, bankruptcy, domestic abuse, matrimonial cases, senior citizen concerns and landlord tenant disputes.

“The premise of this recognition is to honor those attorneys and law firms that place the highest priority on helping society and those less fortunate. Efforts to identify where there is need and communicating this to the legal community resulted in more attorneys becoming involved,” said Access to Justice Committee Co-Chair Gregory Lisi, a partner in charge of the Labor & Employment Departments at Forchelli, Curto, Deegan, Schwartz, Mineo & Terrana. “We attorneys, as a profession, have a duty to help those less fortunate try to obtain justice.
