Jack L. Libert (Hofstra University School of Law, 1974)
was a founding partner in the law firm of D'Amato,
Forchelli, Libert, Schwartz and Mineo. Mr. Libert rejoined
the Firm in 2010. His area of concentration is real estate
focusing on transactions, zoning law, land use planning
and wills, trusts and estates.
From 1978 to 1984 Mr. Libert
served as counsel to the Nassau County Board of Supervisors
(which became the County Legislature.) As Counsel, he was
the chief legal advisor to the legislative body of Nassau
County and the liaison between the legislature, the County
Executive, and the administrative arms of the County Government.
From 1992 to 2002 Mr. Libert served as CEO and General
Counsel of the Real Estate Division of Benjamin Development
Co. As General Counsel he oversaw all legal affairs including
real estate acquisitions and offerings, litigation, labor
matters, regulatory issues and taxation. During that time
he also served as deputy village attorney for the Incorporated
Village of Lynbrook.
Mr. Libert also served as an elected
Trustee (1987 to 1989) and Mayor (1989 to 1994) of the
Incorporated Village of Woodsburgh.
From 1993 through 2005,
Mr. Libert served on the Town of Oyster Bay Board of Zoning
Appeals. In 1997 he became Chairman of that board and served
in that capacity until 2005. At that time Mr. Libert left
the Board of Zoning Appeals to become Commissioner of Planning
and Development of the Town of Oyster Bay (through 2008)
and then Commissioner of the Town Department of Public
Works where he served until his recent retirement from
public service to return full time to law practice.
Mr.
Libert is a member of the ABA, the New York State Bar Association
and the Nassau County Bar Association. He has an "AV" legal
ability and ethics rating by Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory
– the very highest rating this nationally recognized publication
has established. Mr. Libert was featured in Long Island
Business News "Who's Who in Law on Long
Island" (2002).
He has also appeared as a legal commentator on Cablevision News Channel 12. In
addition, Mr. Libert serves as a vice-chairman of the Nassau County Republican
Committee.
Mr. Libert is admitted to the New York State Bar, the
Circuit Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the
Federal District Courts for both the Southern and Eastern
Districts of New York.
