Donald Jay Schwartz Appears on WFAN
(Mineola – July 6, 2008) Donald Jay Schwartz, partner-in-charge
of the Litigation Department at Forchelli, Curto, Deegan, Schwartz, Mineo, Cohn & Terrana, LLP, discussed the mission
of the Long Island Transplant Recipients International Organization,
Inc. (LITRIO), and his role as an attorney on its Board
of Directors on WFAN’s Sunday morning public affairs
radio program hosted by Bob Salter.
Schwartz explained how the organization improves the quality
of life of those touched by the miracle of transplantation
by helping to alleviate the stresses and problems associated
with the process. LITRIO accomplishes this through support,
advocacy, education and awareness. It makes the concerns
and needs that affect the welfare of transplant candidates,
recipients, and their families; and donor families known
to federal, state and local government bodies, and communicates
their views on issues to the general public. The organization
informs families of government initiatives in the transplantation
field. In addition, TRIO promotes organ and tissue donation
as an important social responsibility. Developing and supporting
mechanisms to improve the availability of organs and tissues
on an equitable basis to meet the needs of transplant candidates
is an essential element of LITRIO’s mission.
Incorporated in 1987, TRIO is an independent, not-for-profit,
international organization employing a network of chapters,
employing many support groups in varying phases of development.
