ATTORNEY TERENCE E. SMOLEV ELECTED
TO
THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF DOWLING COLLEGE
(Mineola, NY…November 29, 2007) Attorney Terence E.
Smolev, a resident of Jericho, NY, and partner at the Mineola-based
law firm of Forchelli, Curto, Deegan, Schwartz, Mineo, Cohn & Terrana, LLP, has been elected to the Board of
Trustees of Dowling College, located in Oakdale, NY.
Comprised of business and community leaders across the region,
the Dowling College Board of Trustees is responsible for
ensuring that the institution fulfills its mission of providing
all students with the best education possible.
“Dowling College is committed to the success of its
students,” explained Mr. Smolev. “I am honored
to have been elected to the Board of Trustees and I look
forward to offering my insight and leadership to assist
the school in furthering its mission.”
A graduate of Washington College of Law at The American
University, and New York University Graduate School of Law,
Mr. Smolev began his career at a New York City accounting
firm before establishing a private legal practice on Long
Island and eventually merging his firm with The Firm
in 2000. As partner-in-charge of the Tax, Trusts and Estates
Department, Mr. Smolev concentrates his practice in all
aspects of tax, corporate, estates, trusts and elder law.
He has served as an adjunct professor at Hofstra University
Schools of Business and Law, teaching accounting, business
law, tax law and estate planning. He is also active as an
impartial Hearing Officer for disputes in the public school
system.
Over the course of his 38 year career, Mr. Smolev has shown
a strong dedication to community involvement. He is a member
of the New York City Police Museum Board of Trustees and
serves as Vice President and Trustee on its Executive Board.
He is also a member of the Long Island Cabinet for Israeli
Bonds, the Nassau County Comptroller’s
Audit Advisory Committee and the North Shore-Long Island
Jewish Health System Foundation Professional Advisor’s
Committee. He is a past President of the Pickett Farm Homeowners
Association and has served on the Hofstra University Board
of Trustees. Mr. Smolev was featured in the Long Island
Business News’ listing of “Who’s Who in
Tax Law” (2006).
