S. Cohn Honored by the United Cerebral Palsy Association
of Nassau County
Mineola, November 16, 2006 — Attorney William S. Cohn,
a resident of North Hills, NY, and Counsel at the Mineola
based law firm of Forchelli, Curto, Schwartz, Mineo, Carlino
& Cohn LLP (The Firm), was recently honored during
the United Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County’s
(UCPN) 54th Annual “Forget Me Not Ball”, held
on November 4, 2006. During the event, Mr. Cohn was presented
with the Harold Jay Greenberg Torch of Leadership Award
for outstanding community service and commitment. Over the
years, the fundraiser has raised millions of dollars to
help support the outstanding array of programs and services
that UCPN offers.
The United Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County,
Inc. (UCPN) is an independent, not-for-profit health agency
serving over 1,800 children and adults with cerebral palsy,
developmental and other disabilities. Founded in 1948, the
Association operates a comprehensive Treatment and Rehabilitation
Center in Roosevelt, NY, which has earned international
recognition for innovative and high quality programs. Many
state-of-the-art services are provided in the Fortunoff
Treatment and Rehabilitation Center and other areas of the
facility.
“UCPN has worked diligently to improve the quality
of life for those with cerebral palsy, severe disabilities
and multiple service needs,” explained Mr. Cohn. “It
has been a pleasure working to help advance their mission
and I am honored to be recognized by such a committed, commendable
organization.”
Once named the organization’s “Man of the Year”,
Mr. Cohn has shown a history of commitment to UCPN having
served as a past president and director, and currently serving
as Chairman of its Foundation Board.
A graduate of Brooklyn Law School, William S. Cohn has practiced
law for over forty years and was founding partner of Cohn,
Rosenthal & Avrutine based in Baldwin. He concentrates
his practice in a wide variety of real estate related matters,
including land use and zoning. His experience in land use
and zoning is well known on Long Island and he has lectured
on the subject before the Nassau County Bar Association,
the New York State Bar Association, the Suffolk County Bar
Association and the Real Estate Practitioners Institute
at C.W. Post College. Mr. Cohn is Chairman of the Planning
Board of the Village of North Hills and a member of the
Nassau County and New York State Bar Associations.
